In May 2010, was officially established a branch of the Institute of Archaeology after named A.H. Margulan Committee of science, Ministry of Education and Science RK in Astana. I have a long time ago the idea of creating such a structure in Astana, this time it was supported by the Minister. In my plan, branch in Astana should to give a new impetus to the development of archeology at a time when the country is a real process of transition to fundamentally new forms of organization and funding of research activities, as well as contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists. I believe that the development of the fundamental areas of archeology, despite the emergence of various regional centers, institutes, with some universities and a large number of specialized commercial entities (LLC, NGOs, etc.), should remain the prerogative of research institutions (and their subsidiaries in different cities) with "academic" tradition of the organization of the scientific process.
At this stage of the activity branch will naturally seek to expand the field of research in the various regions of the country and accumulate documented to date archaeological sources for development on the basis of their theoretical and methodological problems in the study of ancient and medieval history of the country in accordance with the realities of our time and the needs of paradigm of nation-state and the public consciousness.
The planned branch Serials "Materials and research on the archeology of Kazakhstan" in three languages (about 40-100 volumes) using both archival and new data will, we hope, and a fundamental contribution to world science, as many foreign scientists to work studying the problems of the ancient history of the peoples of the Eurasian continent, will receive the information that was previously unknown or unavailable to them.
Branch since inception actively joined the international integration process by taking part in the preparation and implementation of several international scientific conferences and other events in Russia, the U.S. and Germany. For example, in
2012 in conjunction with the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University and the Smithsonian Institute and the U.S., we have successfully organized the international exhibition "Nomads and their relations in space," in New York and Washington. At the beginning of 2013 initiated a large-scale exhibition in Bochum (Germany) "Unknown Kazakhstan. Archaeology in the heart of Asia" and the German Mining Museum and the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin, with the publication of content directories (and conference materials). As part of the integration and interdisciplinary programs branch of institute together with Russian and German archaeologists develops a problem of development of copper ore resources in the west Mugalzhar kasseteritovyh fields Kalba ridge to the east of the country in the era of paleometal, which can be considered a milestone in the study of ancient paleo economic and manufacturing centers in the territory of modern Kazakhstan. In 2011-2012. branch has operated on the basis of financial support for the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 8 grants; interdisciplinary program on the target board of public and humanitarian institutions "Gylymi Kazyna" sub-theme "Cultural Genesis in the Ural-Irtysh rivers in the context of the study of the problems of continuity (II thousand BC - I millennium BC)." And archaeological research conducted on the topic: 005 "Applied Research on routine 100" "In the field of culture," subtopic "Berel burial ground", funded under the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information.
To achieve the objectives of the projects involved more than 70 experts most of whom live in different cities of the country and abroad and have been successfully operating in remote method.
